Preserve What We Love. Improve What We Need.

About Me

Hi, I’m McKaiden. I’m a lifelong Highland resident. I got my start in public service on Highland’s Youth Council and learned early that real change starts at the local level with leaders who listen. I recently married my husband, Jansen Fuller, and we’re proud to call Highland our forever home.

I’m running for City Council because I care deeply about this community: its people, its landscape, and its future. I’m committed to decisions that are ethical, transparent, and common sense.

This is about protecting what makes Highland feel like home: the open space, the calm streets, the mountain views, and the sense of connection between neighbors. But it’s also about making smart, needed improvements like fixing roads, planning growth responsibly, and making local government more transparent and responsive.

Let’s make decisions that reflect our values and keep Highland a place we’re proud to call home.

What guides me:

  • Stewardship: Protecting our water, open space, and trails for the next generation.

  • Smart Growth: Supporting local businesses and a strong town center without losing Highland’s identity.

  • Pragmatic Safety: Calming traffic, improving road conditions, and ensuring walkability for families.

  • Integrity: No hidden agendas. Just service and transparency.

I’d be honored to earn your vote.

Let’s preserve what we love and improve what we need, together.

What I Stand For

SMART GROWTH, NOT SPRAWL

Highland is changing. Growth is inevitable, but it shouldn’t come at the cost of what we love.

I’ll work for:

  • Development that protects open space and Highland’s character.

  • Enforcing the new rules on developer donations, so growth doesn’t come with strings attached.

  • Infrastructure that keeps up: roads, water systems, and utilities that meet our needs, without overbuilding.

FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY THAT MAKES SENSE

Taxpayers deserve to know where their money is going. I’ll push for smart, transparent budgeting.

Here’s what I’ll do:

  • Make budget meetings easier to understand and attend, online and in person.

  • Clearly explain and communicate any new proposals or big-ticket projects before they’re voted on.

  • Seek outside grants first, so we’re not always leaning on local tax hikes.

KEEP HIGHLAND LIVABLE

Highland is special for a reason. Let’s protect what makes it great.

I’ll prioritize:

  • Safeguarding our parks, trails, and open lands from overdevelopment.

  • Supporting family-friendly spaces, senior services, and youth programs.

  • Pushing back on zoning changes that damage property values or neighborhood feel.

OPEN GOVERNMENT THAT LISTENS

You should never feel shut out of your own city government. I want City Council to be more approachable and more accountable.

That means:

  • Live-streamed meetings, with updates posted in plain language.

  • Advisory boards with real input from neighbors, youth, seniors, and small business owners.

  • Regular “Common Ground” events where you can meet your council members, ask questions, and share ideas.

Common Ground Initiative

I believe that transparency and responsiveness are the most important qualities for local government, and I want to prioritize them as your Council member. On the Council, I will work to establish a “Common Ground Initiative,” bringing city government directly to residents all across Highland and creating a consistent space where all residents can feel heard and welcome, not just those who frequent monthly Council meetings. These monthly meetings will be held at parks, libraries, and other public spaces across the city, and will include a community service activity and open time for Q&A and conversation with your City Council members.
